I gave this 5/5 stars.
I’d been wanting to read Fun Home for a while and I had heard great reviews so I had pretty high expectations.
It completely lived up to them.
I read it in one day, and it would have been an even shorter read if I wasn’t in school that day but that was because of not only the length, but because I couldn’t put it down. Bechdel’s relationship with her father was complicated and they are both complicated people. It was interesting the way she layed all her father’s secrets out at the beginning instead of leading up to them, a choice that I think, worked in her favor. It allowed her to make an easier transition through time and still keep the reader’s attention.
This is a short review, for a short book but I would absolutely recommend this.
